    Default Inventory Management System

    Greetings,

Has anyone dealt with purchasing something like this (though clearly better as this one gets horrid reviews)

I want to get something that I can print labels and basically label all my assets in my house etc. I move once every 2-3 years and things go in storage or they go along with me etc. Over time you miss things, you can't find things etc and you end up having extras of somethings in the end. I am hoping something like this can eliminate that.

You could just buy a scanner print your own bar codes and use access to create a database or even excel by scanning bar codes. That's what I normally do at work when I have to inventory printers.

We use a WASP scanner where I work and it does a pretty good job. We use it to read both in-house printed bar code labels and factory applied (usually serial number) bar codes. We do not use that software but the scanner just inputs text characters into whatever program you are running. Excel or Access would probably do the job you need.

Interesting do you need a plugin for office?

No plugin, it spits out ASCII text just like you were typing it on the keyboard. If you are using it with Excel you just make sure the focus is on the right cell, scan the barcode, and the text is input.
