    Why not overclock that CPU?

And did you set the XMP profile in BIOS for that RAM? Cause if you didn't then your RAM is running at 2133Mhz not 3200Mhz

The 6600K is stock @ 3.50GHz. I've OC'd mine to 3.90GHz, if that answers your question. I haven't gone higher than 3.90GHz because I haven't had a need for it. As for the XMP profile question - I don't know how to react to being asked such a stupid question. Yes I set the XMP profile, yes it's running at 3200MHz - yes I've confirmed it. Though it's a bitch because every BIOS update I have to rebuild my BIOS settings, including the OC and the XMP profile.

In other news, my colocated server's RAM runs @ 1333MHz if that makes you feel better.

First no need to get so excited. I just asked a question.

    Second.
i5 6600k is 3.5Mhz but has a boost clock to 3.9Mhz by default. So, you did not OC it. When you run games it automatically boosts to 3.9 Mhz.

I asked that question because I noticed that you did not OC the CPU so I assumed you did not do anything in BIOS.
And it's not a bitch to set those settings in BIOS. It's just literally two clicks: one for XMP and one for CPU OC :-)))) And when you Flash BIOS you have to enter BIOS anyways, unless you do it in Windows, which is the most insecure way to do.

    GHz not MHz.

Also, you and I have the same mobo so you should know what I'm talking about when I say "5-way optimization". 3.9GHz is what it put me on (x39 multiplier) using the default settings. I used to have it OC'd to 4.3GHz but the profile was recently lost (poorly planned Windows reinstall :P) and I haven't felt like recreating it and doing all the CPU stress tests (Prime95, yo) to ensure it's stable, so I let the 5-way optimization do it for me. Been busy setting up my Dell PowerEdge R210 w/pfSense & the Unifi Controller. Recently revamped my home network.

On the other hand you've prompted me to properly OC it a bit more - via Chrome Remote Desktop while at work xD.

Used HeavyLoad instead of Prime95, but I'll probably test it more when I get home. Gotta take advantage of the closed loop liquid cooler right?

Yeah Ghz, that was a typo :-)

I simply set the multiplier for cores and sync them all. Works stable at 4.3Ghz. Would go more but I need a better cooler. Tried to run it at 4.6Ghz and I was not happy about the temperatures since I have a 120mm liquid cooler. But by default the i5 6600k has a boost clock at 3.9Ghz. So, it boosts to 3.9Ghz when needed. Here is a link from Intel website http://ark.intel.com/products/88191/...up-to-3_90-GHz

Btw, just updated BIOS to 1901 (was released a week ago and did not notice it) and took me like what 1 minute to set all the OC config :-))) So really it's not hard.

My liquid cooler is a Corsair Hydro Series H80i GT, haven't run into cooling trouble with my CPU. Been really impressed so far.

I'll have to plan an update to 1901. I hate how ambiguous their changelogs are though:
    --
    MAXIMUS VIII HERO BIOS 1902
    Improve system stability
    --

Whenever I update my BIOS I stress test my CPU & RAM again in case they fudged something up.

Corsair is a better cooler than the one I have.

Yeah, I would really like to see more detailed change-log on that. But so far had no problems with new versions of BIOS.
Btw, they also have new updates on Chipset and Audio drivers.

The audio drivers are worth upgrading.. Can tell that my audio is much better now. At least for me.
