Heya Guys! We thought we'd have a more "Stylistic" Tournament this month


We're going to have a Decal Contest! Which we find will be quite enjoyable for our members, both old and new! as we feel alot of our members are quite creative, So we're expecting some interesting setups!


Here Are The Details/Rules

. Winners Will Be decided based on a poll, So regular members get a chance to decide who wins!

. You May Share Screenshots of Your Decal Setups for both Planes & Tanks!

. User Skins ARE NOT ACCEPTED, Only Decals

. No Decal setup may break the CoC, IE: No Gore, Nudity or Offensive Content

. Limit Of Three Screenshots!

I posted this in the official decal thread before I realized that we had a contest going on. I reduced the number of screenshots in the album to 3.

I have a decal for single engined aircraft, and a decal for all ground vehicles. Here's the description I had in the other post:

Since we can't make the decals huge, I opted for a nose-art design for fighters, using the black spade turned sideways pointed backwards, double sided, and the red lightning bolt flashing down the top of the nose. I don't own any multiple engined aircraft yet so I don't know how well this could be adapted for bombers and heavy fighters.

For ground forces I opted for a small and simple, but distinctive and recognizable insignia so as to not compromise camouflage on the ground while allowing for quick visual ID if needed. I use the same backwards-pointing sideways black spade, double sided, as I did on the fighter noseart, but smaller. The red lightning bolt is also reused, this time smaller and double sided, slashing down the middle of the black spade.

Both designs use red and black, our squadron colors. Both use the black spade and red lightning bolt, which can be easily earned with a few kills. Both designs only require two decals. Premium players have room for extra flourishes for aircraft, and an extra insignia on the rear of the turret/hull for ground vehicles.

I wanted it to look good, but I was also putting a lot of consideration into availability for all players.

Also posted on OFDT before I realized there was a contest: Chandler, May I suggest; I'm a cheapskate who doesn't like to spend money. Can we have SEPERATE CATEGORIES FOR 4-DECAL AND 2-DECAL?

Anyway, Based on Dance's idea of a nose-art...

I like the nose art idea, but it doesn't seem to fit that well on Radial engine fighters. I made this variation on the P-47 and I think It looks much better...

It's the red cross enlarged to fit on the sideways spade.
The reason this seems to fit better, is because (My OCD flared XD) it's symmetrical, and it covers the 'Grey Spot' where the Spade doesn't quite reach, and the lightning bolt just doesn't cover up...

Here's another idea; A Red cross underneath Japanese Emblem #1, they fit almost perfectly! This can be done anywhere, from the nose, to the wing, to the fuselage, to the tail, and Anyone who flies a bit of both Germany and Japan can get them.
AND THIS IDEA WORKS ON ANYTHING, AND ANYWHERE! IT'S NOT JUST NOSEART! I have done this on all my bomber's tails, and it fits perfectly, from the Sunderland to the Ki-10, there's some spot where it fits.
