    Default PCIe NVMe M.2 opinions

I'm about to purchase a 512 PCIe NVMe M.2. to replace my SATA III 128. Any opinions? It looks like there will be a huge difference in the speed; but is it worth the $400? Will I actually notice it?

As a secondary, anyone have an informed opinion on the 960 PRO vs the 960 EVO? There is roughly $100 difference, but seems to be very little speed difference...

There will be a huge difference in speed. I'd go for 960 EVO. $100 more for boost in write speed is unnecessary waste of money unless you really need that write speed. Other than that, Read speed is what you mostly will use.

    Default Updates for NVMe M.2.

Haven't played with it yet; but a couple items of note:

    1. It's unbelievably small (see picture A).
    2. It didn't come with the screw needed to hold it in the mobo (grrr)
2a. The Alien laptop had a screw just right on the custom name plate (see picture B).
    3. I removed the small SSD before doing the bench mark; but clearly it kicks butt over a regular SATA drive (see picture C).
    4. EaseUS is worthless; their "Trial" forced me to buy it to "try it", and then it wouldn't work; so I just went back to the native Samsung utility to transfer the drive, and I'm giving EaseUS another 8 hours to refund before I request a charge back from PayPal (or the CC company).

    Nice!

EaseUS Trial works just fine. I've been using it many times to clone the drive.

During reboot EaseUS, kept giving me errors every time and freezing the PC, no matter how I tried to approach copying the two drives. I'd probably use Acronis when I give my son the smaller SSD, have more successful experience it.

Jury is in; *significant* difference in load time, recording, etc. with this NVMe SSD and the SATA III SSD. Happy, Happy, Happy.

My laptop (Razer blade stealth 7500u) has a 240gb m.2 ssd and it boots fast and can perform anything file based really smoothly. Desktop has a sata ssd because I got addicted to the fast boots on my laptop xD

I have a 950 Pro M.2, absolutely love it. As far as gaming goes, you might not notice a *huge* difference, but for large files transfers, and even transferring many small files you will notice a very large difference, imo. Definitely a good step up from what you have though. As far as just gaming goes though, I would just recommend a normal SSD like an 850 pro or evo.

I found a HUGE difference between the sata III SSD and the NVMe SSD. I went with the EVO instead of the PRO.
