(This is also why I havent been on.)
My MOS was 19K1 (M1Abrams Armor Crewman), and I was at MEPS (The place you go to to be evaluated and sign your contract.)
I passed the urine, blood, sight, and hearing test, along with the physical, and got a 69 on my ASVAB.
I was literally five minutes away from signing my contract, I passed everything with flying colors.
But then? The Doctor happened.
I had a scab on my arm, and he took interest in it. I explained to him that it was a bruise that developed into a scab.
Problem is, he thought it was a burn. He didnt believe me, and told me that I wasn't going to be signing my contract that day, because he thought I was self harming. (I'm not.)
He told me that my branch might want to do something, so I was like
"Okay so atleast I can explain it to them."
I gave my papers to my army counselor, and he told me that the doctor had put an "S3 Self Mutilation" on my paper. The Army doesnt offer waivers for that.
There would be no waiver. No investigation. I couldnt even go to an army psychiatrist to have them evaluate me and prove that I wasn't suicidal.
I was straight up banned from joining the Army, just like that.
Just to be clear, I'm not self-harming, or suicidal.
So yeah I'm pretty bummed, but I'll be getting back on now, at least. :)
To those who are enlisting in the service, just be warned: A simple scab can get you banned from the Army. So make sure you let it heal before going to MEPS.
It's good to be back, guys. ;D
