    Icon5 New monitor

    Hello,

I'm looking for a new monitor.

For now, I have two option:

    https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01...K6Y9EEQB&psc=1

    https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01...K6Y9EEQB&psc=1

One have G-Sync (I have a Nvidia card) and the other not. But the G-Sync one is 150 more. Is it worth it to go for the G-Sync one?

I'm open to other proposition you may have.

I don't think G-Sync or Freesync is worth at all. Most modern monitors have Adaptive Sync anyways and they work just fine and can be as smooth as Gsync. IMHO, GSync and Freesync is just a waste of money.
This monitor will be as good as that Acer:

Also, BenQ Zowie make really good monitors that are widely used in eSports.

IMHO Gysnc is totally worth the money, if you want to cap your FPS at a rate lower then you refresh rate it a great way to achieve smooth play, I use Gsync on my laptop and desktop and I notice the difference, on occasion I will turn it off for bench marking and if I start a round without turning it on I notice it immediately. There are also those who used to think anything above 60 Hz was a waste too and many have found that to be false.

My point is that there are monitors without Gsync or Freesync but rather have Adaptive Sync, which can do the job as good as a monitor with Gsync or Freesync. I personally have no screen tearing issues on my BenQ XL2411 144hz monitor. Everything is buttery smooth and the newer models are even better.

Thought about an ultrawide? Bit more expensive, but by far the best purchase I have made for my PC. Bought a 34" 3440x1440 100hz and gaming, movies, browsing, creative work has been near night and day difference :)

I dont know much about this,
I believe all 3 are identical in performance at high fps, but handle low fps differently,
nvidia uses buffering, amd uses their low frame rate compensation for a % outside its vrr window (fps window where it works), and then goes back to ordinary vsync, and I have no idea what display port does (I think it does same as amd without their low frame rate compensation software.)
but my understanding is nvidia performs the best but costs the most hence $150, amd is an upgrade from display port, and display port is the standard
I haven't used the 3, but seeing you have a nvidia graphics card, you can't use amd freesync anyways, so in my opinion, gsync is much better than adaptive sync
but both perform the same at high fps, so whether it's worth $150 to you will depend on the fps and how much you value the performance change

Get the Acer gsync monitor. Some people really don't seem to like gsync but my eyes are extremely sensitive to stutter and it ruins immersion when frames dip. Remember, if you use vsync you better keep it above at all times or you will see stutter. If you vsnc@120hz and you drop below it, it may bother you. You're only alternative at that point is to now drop your settings or drop your vsync to a level you will not drop below. Sow now you've just lowered your overall framerate threshold. The great thing about gsync is if you are at 120hz and you drop to 100, your eyes will hardly be able to perceive it.

Also, remember to activate vsync globally in nvcp and also use Riva to cap frames to 3 below your monitor refresh rate, which will give you the absolute lowest input lag possible.

That looks a pretty good one.
