    Default New Graphic card

    Hi guys!

I'm looking to buy a new graphic card under £300 ($390). What would you suggest? I'm not willing to spend more as I need to invest in other stuff in the near future (new monitor, cooling system). If you also have any recommendations for some cooling systems with decent prices that would be great.

    Thanks!

We need more details about your system. If you have 1080p monitor at 60Hz you can get away with a much cheaper card then if you wanted to play at 1440p and 144 Hz. Your CPU would also be a factor in determining the GPU you buy. I'm not familiar with AMD GPUs so someone else will have to chime in because I have only used Nvida over the last decade or so. In your price range a GTX 1060 would get you surprisingly good performance for the price.

I have always wanted to go with a full water system but it has always been more then I wanted to spend, I have a AIO for my CPU and use a GPU with EVGAs ICX cooling and I'm getting really good results.

Price/Performance wise I'd go with a GTX 1060 (I own one aswell). I am getting very good performance for the money I paid, and it'll last you quite a bit.

When price is the major concern i often find it can lead to compromise and i dont compromise on cpu or gpu i have used amd stuff in the past when i switched because of price ...Worst mistake i ever made.....

I agree the 1060 is prob the best route if your cpu can keep up....

    Thanks for the responses!

At the moment I have a 1080 monitor but I will upgrade soon. I terms of what I have in my pc:

    Motherboard: MSI-7759
    CPU: i7-3770k 3.50GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 Ti

I heard quite a lot of good things about the 1060, but which one? There are so many models on the market. I'm not such a big fan of AMD :))

    Thanks again!

Here in the USA I would go with EVGA because of their stellar customer support, I have read somewhere that the in other countries it's not as good but I would give them a look. As for the 3GB or 6Gb version? I would say if you are staying at 1080p then the 3Gb would be plenty and you could save $50, the 6Gb would be better for future upgrades. Now if you plan and adding a custom water loop then finding a founders edition card could save you a little more because you wont be paying for the after market cooling solution.

This guy gets into some real detailed info but I would take the time to watch it, it could make you more confident about your choice. The second video has a decent review of different models.

EVGAs UK product page, looks like there are many that meet you budget.

A common complaint from EVGA is that you must register you product with 30 days to get the warranty.

    Happy shopping

Behind? Did you see benchmarks? It beats GTX 1080 and GTX 1070.
Yes, it does not beat GTX 1080Ti because the price tag is not targeted at that level.

Vega is a lot over the budget. Apparently, I have a friend in Florida until the end of the week I think and I could ask her to buy/collect the GPU for me. For those in the US I have a question: do you know any stores from where she can buy it? I would prefere to pay for it so she would only need to collect it. The only one I know is Best Buy and they don't have it for collection.

It's within your budget and will server you well, I just wonder about warranty/RMA when Buying from Walmart and having a friend buy it, I would hate to see you get stuck with a dud.

ASUS would be my first choice, but EVGA and MSI make good cards as well. I am running a EVGA GTX 1070 SC and I absolutely love it. Running a 4k television as monitor one and a 2560x1080 as my second and no issues at all.

That's why I was asking for other decent stores in Florida if anybody knows. I'll have to decide between ASUS EVGA and MSI, though the MSI is $30ish more expensive and slightly better.

All three of them are great. Gigabyte makes great GPU's too but their Customer Service sucks really bad.
I've been using ASUS, EVGA and MSI for years and had no issues with them at all. With that said, go with the one is either cheaper or if you care for aesthetics then get the one that looks best in your system.
That's how my ASUS rig looks like:

Your rig is so ugly I would say no if you wanted to give it to me :)) Jokes aside, that looks amazing. I don't care about aesthetics that much as I care about performance.

I can't order from Amazon as she is travelling around Florida and in the UK is $100 more expensive. I'll figure something out.

    Thanks for the help guys!

I concur with Duke. I've always bought the EVGA brand and I have never had any problems. Customer support is top notch.

In that case get the one is cheaper. Either way it doesn't really matter which brand you buy when it comes to performance. They all will perform the same once you overclock it.
For example, I went with ASUS GTX 1070 8G instead of ASUS GTX 1070 O8G (OC version) because the OC version was $30 more for extra 100 Mhz in Boost clock. Why pay $30 more for the exact same GPU just to have extra 100 Mhz set in the BIOS if I can overclock the GPU myself and go beyond that. So, with that said, I went with non OC version and overclocked my GPU to 2050 Mhz for the Core Clock and 8400 Mhz for the Memory Clock and there is still room left to go further but then I will have to sacrifice either temperature (currently does not go above 65C at 45% fan speed) or boost the fan speed and make my system louder.

Pascal generation GPU's are a really good overclockers and can go way beyond the clocks that manufacturers have set in the BIOS. Any Pascal GPU should be able to hit at least 2000 Mhz for the core clock.
So, given your case that you don't care about the looks but only want the performance then go with the cheapest you can get. The only difference between brands is the looks and cooling efficiency. ASUS and MSI are the most efficient in cooling and EVGA is pretty much on par with them but slightly lags behind (like 1 C - 2 C, which is nothing). Gigabyte is somewhat great too but I had bad experience with Gigabyte customer support (for the motherboard) and would not recommend them. Although the Gigabyte GTX 970 that I used to have worked well and had no issues but I had terrible experience with motherboard Gigabyte Z170 Gaming 7.
