Heck yeah, and that's when AMD fails again and does the same thing what they did with Bulldozer. Why? Simply because DDR5 will be out for like two years already by 2020.

    ??? DDR5 ???

Yes, DDR5 is going to be released in 2018. This is another reason to step back and not do any system upgrades now and wait for Intel Cannon Lake 10nm CPU, which is btw delayed until the end of the 2018. Perhaps, that's the reason why Cannon Lake is being delayed. https://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer...s-fast-as-ddr4

I doubt though that we will see any ultra significant boosts from DDR4 to DDR5. GPU's have been on GDDR5 for ages now, and haven't gotten a new revision since GDDR5X which was only put on Nvidia GPU's for the 1080, 1080Ti, and Titan X(p). DDR5 might be Released in 2018, but I doubt we will see major adoption of DDR5 until 2020, or 2021. Why? RAM prices have gone through the roof because the silicon for RAM has gotten expensive.

DDR5 is twice as fast as DDR4. It has been already announced this year.

"JEDEC said that work has already started on the DDR5 standard and claims it will offer double the bandwidth and density of DDR4, as well as "delivering improved channel efficiency"."

As for this... GDDR6 has also been announced by Samsung back in 2016 and it will be released in 2018 along with NVIDIA Volta GPU's.

JEDEC has said that about every single new revision of DDR RAM. Have the ever delivered on it? No... Will they ever? No... JEDEC is a company, and all companies want is money, they will say anything that sounds convincing enough to the press, and then release a dissapointing product.
