A-20g?

So I'm grinding up the rank II USA aircraft at the moment and I picked up an A-20G. So... how exactly do I run this thing?

It seems to be an OK attacker. However every time I take it out I feel like half the enemy team immediately vectors to shoot me down. With the offensive guns it feels like it should be capable of some heavy fighter-esqe action but it loses energy way too fast for boom&zoom and has basically no maneuverability. Is it really at the mercy of an available escort? Any tips?

Practice your dive bombing since you’ll have no reticle in RB and your elevator will lock at high dive speed/angles. Even in AB it feels like a brick at those speeds. The six M2s are perfect for strafing passes and any sucker who thinks they can head-on ya. If you choose to use the M8 rocket tubes make sure you get direct hits since they have been nerfed. It would be nice to have another late model, perhaps the J or one of the Ruskie leases but at least the 2k lb payload it deserves. Make sure you max your gunner crew when you can, he’s hell to pay.

the A20G, the bane of low tier fighters. Basically, when you see them coming, turn away to your team. And run. It is fast. It has decent turrets. Just spray anything which comes close. They won't close fast, and chances are, they won't close on you at all. The A20 is for seal-clubbing, good luck!

I have 3 of 7 US crews aced on this fighter,all grind-no buy in. This is AB only

1-Weight management. Use the fuel load that You think You can get away with. The lighter it is,the faster it is. Speed is key
2-Weapons.IMO,even pre-nerf,the rockets on that thing suck ass.the issue isn't the ordnance itself,it's the aimpoint. The Rockets are loaded WAY out on the shoulders of the airframe. They DO NOT follow I.P. like ANY other rockets. You have to "Imagine' the sight directly infront of the rockets,rather than the pipper which SHOULD indicate the aimpoint,but does not.Use the 4x500lb
3-Ground ammo in offensive 50,Armored in the defensive. Saws through everything,always. It all just fuckin' dies Man

Employment of airframe-
Assuming Your crew is fully modded out *all engineery,etc* dump bombs right off the bat in spawn *remember AB only*. You dump 2000lb immediately and gain alt. quickly
use it as a dive bomber. drop the combat flaps,nose over approx 12k ft from target,drop throttle to idle,extend the gear. Watch the glide slope and airspeed. This is called "Poor Mans dive brakes' and works in keeping it in the "Sweet spot' of airspeed for a bomb run

before dropping ordy,retract gear/flaps,throttle 100% and dump the ordy

pull out FLAT,full wep, clean airframe. And stay LOW while exiting the area. this ensures Your defense has 70% coverage of rear/topside. SLOWLY gain alt while reloading *33 sec in Arcade for full mod crew* and repeat as needed.

Its a great airframe,but Ya gotta remember.She's a bus,and flies like one. Now We've all seen buses before,they turn like shit,accelerate like shit,and climb like shit..however...theres always that ONE bus driver that can drift that damn thing at speed,hit a 90deg turn w/out breaks or losing speed,and manages to hit the stops on time,every time. It's the pilot,not the airframe per se. Fly it like ya STOLE THAT SUMBITCH

It's pretty good, reasonable attacker for ground craft stick to buzzing ground targets thought... yeah ok i read rubble's suggestions just listen to him lol

At its battle rating, its defensive armament is very good. Use it to your advantage.

Oogie you are a couple years late to the party for the A-20, Henkie and I used to dogfight with this thing in RB all the time, but then they realized it and slapped it hard with the nerf bat. Just remember you have more guns in the nose than almost anything you will be facing at that tier.
