Default "Ethernet lacks valid IP configuration"

I did a windows update last night that I had postponed for a month or two and when I booted up today I was met by a lack of internet access which according to the windows troubleshooter is because "Ethernet lacks valid IP configuration" (unsure of if thats the proper error message in english as I translated it from swedish).
I have already tried to update the network card drivers via the Device manager using both "search for updates" and "select driver" as well as running some scripts in the command prompt that I got from a windows support thread talking about this issue however my problem still remains. (I ran netsh winsock reset, netsh int ip reset, ipconfig /release and ipconfig /flushdns).

Anyone here have any experience with this issue?

Update: Also tried to enter IP and DNS manually using information found with ipconfig /all however it did not resolve the issue.

EDIT: after the latest restart the troubleshooter now says "DNS server not responding"

Update: Connecting my laptop to the cable used for my PC showed me that I get the same error which In my mind means that the issue is not my PC but some of the hardware in my house.

Had to move some cables around but the issue resolved itself!

All the one and zeroes were leaking out.

Leaks tend to happen when your subnet isn't fine enough
