I'm getting back into PC gaming after real life kicked me in the nuts the past few years. So I've dusted off my old gaming tower and threw in some parts I had laying around. Here's what I'm working with so far.
Phenom II x4 965 BE 3.4ghz (overclocked to 4.0ghz, 205mhz fsb x 19.5, 2600mhz NB)
Asus m4a79t-deluxe motherboard
16gb (4x4gb) Corsair dominator ddr3 @ 1380mhz 7-8-7-22
Radeon r7 250x overclocked 1100mhz core 1200mhz memory
Corsair 120gb SSD boot drive
Corsair 120gb SSD for ships and Cs:go
500gb laptop drive I pulled from a ps4 for other junk
Asus DVD burner
Corsair 750w psu
Intel pro1000 CT network card
Antec nine hundred two case
Under full prime 95 load for 5 hours the CPU peaked at 48°c so I think my overclock is good to go.
My plan is to get a used GTX 770 or something along those lines and run it for awhile till something forces me to upgrade.
With the current setup I can get around 100fps on cs:go high settings no AA @ 1080p and 50-60 fps on world of warships high textures rest med settings far view distance @1080p.
Those are really the only 2 games I play and plan on playing for the next year or more.
I just thought I would add a different perspective of gaming on older high end hardware and if anyone has any suggestions on my current build or plan would be appreciated. Thx.
