    Default "Activating" SSD?

I had to wipe my computer, it previously had both a HDD and an SSD. After the wipe i just reinstalled the HDD because of how much bigger it was and i just wanted to get my computer up and running.
Wondering how to "activate" the SSD now. It shows up in my "device manager" (SanDisk SDSSDHP256G) but i can't install anything to it or see it in "my computer". At the moment i'm not bothered about putting my os on it, i'd just like to re-install Star Citizen.
I've been googling for a while and all i can find are guides to moving os to an ssd or wiping everything and re-installing with the os on the ssd. I think i might be wording my question poorly and that's hindering my search results.
Sorry if this is super simple but i'm really struggling.
