How long can you play before the screen goes blank? Does the game crash or just go blank with sounds still going? Does this happen in all games you play? And how about your processor... what are you running and is it approaching 100% usage when this happens?

AMD RX 5700 beats everything at that price level. (Not to be confused with an AMD RX 5700 XT, which runs about $50 more.)

Had a look online and realized how hard the AMD RX 5700 is to find right now.

Both Nvidia and AMD have stopped making certain GPUs in anticipation of the upcoming new releases. The AMD RX 5700 (again, not the more expensive 5700 XT) is really hard to find right now.

If you can't find an RX 5700, new, your next two best options, performance-wise, at $350 or below, are the AMD RX 5600 XT (base price $279) and the Nvidia RTX 2060 (base price $349). The performance of both of these are nearly identical (the main difference between these two models being the fact the RTX 2060 has ray tracing capability while the RX 5600 XT does not). Although I can enable ray tracing with my card, the RTX 2070, I choose not to, because it eats frames (at least 20 FPS depending on the game). If it was me, I'd buy a souped-up AMD RX 5600 XT. By "souped-up" I mean a factory-overclocked version. What manufacturers do with these is select the best chip "bins," i.e., those that win the "silicon lottery," and factory set them to overclock out of the box. Because these chips contain the highest quality of silicon, they can handle the overclocking without issues.

If it was me, I'd go with something like this:

    https://www.newegg.com/gigabyte-rade...82E16814932307

"OC" is usually in the model name for overclocked versions.

The GPU market is really tight right now due to the upcoming releases I mentioned as well as supply-chain issues arising from the Coronavirus.

Very likely you'll still have the same issue with a new AMD card. Black screens are a known driver issue with AMD cards right now. Mostly navi based cards. I'd run DDU to clean drivers and try installing either version 20.4.1 or 20.4.2. Most users find either one of those drivers help a lot with black screens. I'd try that and hold off until Nvidia next gen comes out. AMD is just riddled with driver issues lately. I'm jumping ship back to nvidia as soon as next gen cards launch.

AOD_Kestah has a 5700 XT that IIRC he loves. Wondering if he has black screen issues.
