Here is the VG278 Series manual:

    https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/L...English_V1.pdf

The monitor should support 120Hz via HDMI. See last page of the manual.

Specifically HDMI 1.4 per the VG278H specs listed here:

    https://www.asus.com/Monitors/VG278H/

For what it's worth, when I first hooked up my 240Hz monitor, it was running at 60Hz with my NVIDIA card. I had to go into the NVIDIA Control Panel and tell it to use the 1920 X 1080 240Hz resolution instead of the 1920 X 1080 60Hz resolution setting it for whatever reason defaulted to. The 1920 X 1080 240Hz setting is way down a list of other resolution settings:

Everything above the line that's highlighted is only 60Hz and I can't change the refresh rate (listed under a "Ultra HD, HD, SD" heading instead of the "PC" you see here). Everything at or below that line allows me to select from several refresh rates, the maximum being 240 Hz.

Hoping your AMD Radeon Settings have something similar to this.

Also for what it's worth, when I first got the monitor it didn't come with the cable required to get 240Hz. So I bought a cheap one. It didn't work. I only got60 Hz. It took some research to find a brand that was reliable. (In my case it's a DisplayPort 2.0 cable type instead of your HDMI 1.4.) Turns out quality cables are needed to support the very high bit transfer rates the faster refresh rates require. If you're using the HDMI cable that came with the monitor this shouldn't be an issue, but if not it's worth having a look.

Per Section 7.2 of this guide, the VG278H can't do more than 60Hz via HDMI:

    Here's an option:

Get a DVI-D to DisplayPort adapter (I believe your GPU has three DisplayPort ports of which any one will do).

Here's what one looks like for illustrative purposes only:

    https://www.newegg.com/p/37H-0013-000F7

If you decide to go this route, I would make sure the specific cable/manufacturer is blessed off by DisplayPort themselves. That's the organization I looked to online when fixing my bad cable issue. You can check here:

After researching the DVI-D to DisplayPort adapter idea, I found a lot of manufacturers only guarantee 60Hz. However, see the first answered question for this model, which would be used along with your existing DVI-D cable:

^ Further research on that cable says it won't work at 120Hz.

Helpful info on the adapter idea here:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comm...adapter_144hz/

Short answer: the type you need is expensive.

Here's one the manufacturer says will do 1920 X 1080 at 120Hz (in the answered questions section), but $116 is a lot of money for an adapter:

    https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-.../dp/B00A493CNY

Key point is it has to be "Dual-Link" and "Active."

Yes. I bought the 24" version of that AOC curved monitor as a $110 Black Friday gift last year and our friends love it. Honestly wish mine was curved so that my "line of sight" to the monitor is always at a 90-degree angle, no matter where on the display I look. Don't recall whether it comes with the DisplayPort cable or not. If not, I recommend making sure whatever DisplayPort cable you buy is in the following database (you can view that by manufacturer, there's a button for this, and drill down to the manufacturer's own page for the product). Also recommend making sure the manufacturer specifically represents the cable will support 1920 X 1080p at 144Hz (these are good brands, but the brand name alone isn't enough to make sure it works):

Per the Amazon Q&A section, that monitor comes with a DisplayPort cable and it works. Glad to see AOC doesn't go cheap on you like Dell/Alienware did with mine (which they've stopped doing since, I heard). Can't wait to hear how it all works out for you with the new 5600 XT. Bet your upgrades pump out the frames nice and smooth with unnoticeable input lag.

One thing about that monitor I just realized: it's 1440p (I bought the 24" 1080p version for our friends), so your framerates are going to be, on average (based on gpucheck.com's GPU hierarchy I linked to in your other thread), 26% lower than they would otherwise be at 1080p. Thus, this boils down to a question of whether you want to sacrifice framerates for detail. I would hope on low graphics settings you can still get decent framerates at 1080p. There are bound to be a number of YouTube videos out there testing the 5600 XT at 1440p with various games/settings.
