The game will be 100% free to keep forever -- normally $30 on Steam. In addition to the base game being free, the DLC is now permanently free as well.

Always been a fan of Freelancer and the X series, not the newer installments though, last good one for me was X3.

Lol, sounds like fun.

Can't understand why it's fun for people to pick on the noobs. Making a game more difficult and unenjoyable for new comers is bad for any game in the long run.

I played this alot in the past. It is a very good game but the instancing makes it hard to meet people snd play together.

Might be a reason to rejoin the clain. I liked the game on xbox, but kind of got bored with it when I ended up with the biggest ships and nothing really to work toward. Still waiting on the next big update, but jumping to PC might be a nice change of pace. Plus all the plugins that you can use on PC that arent available on xbox.

The past few update cycles have focused on the netcode for the game and though there's still some instancing issues, I've found there to be no problems getting a wing or two together. The remaining problems are when multiple player-groups are fighting and there's 50+ people trying to get into the same instance.
The good news is that Odyssey (the upcoming DLC) is a completely new engine for the game. They haven't given too many details on it yet, but fingers crossed that it brings dedicated servers and a higher cap to the number of people in an instance.

We have some really cool plugins we use for PVP that tie into a discord bot that we use to hunt the bad guys around the galaxy! We also make heavy use of the marketplace connector to feed data into third party sites like Inara or EDDB... as well as some of our own custom-written software :)

All of our officers are people who enjoy working with and teaching new players. We typically work with people 1 on 1 to help them get to where they want in-game. With so many different career paths and ways to play Elite, it makes sense to take a dedicated approach to each new player. Definitely feel free to ping an officer, myself or any of our ED Sgts and we'd be happy to help you with any questions or general ED advice you have.
