Its looking like my GPU maybe isn't compatible with my motherboard :( I took it out and plugged into the motherboard graphics jnstead, and my display turns on, and the new BIOS starts up fine, however, I also can't get past the BIOS now.

I'm doubly fucked it seems. I'm not sure what to do! I'm considering just putting my old build back in so I can at least still shoot planetmans and interact with other people, but I'm worried about just leaving the new setup bits just out and about. I dont want to take the thermal solution off, so there isn't really a box or bag that I have which I can just slide the whole partial rig into while I wait for a new GPU.

    Any suggestions?

Sorry you're having issues, it's frustrating.

This sounds very familiar from a few years back with my Zotac 1080 Amp Extreme and the brand new mobo it was originally paired it with. The mobo wouldn't recognize it until after Windows was installed using only the mobo video. I got it to work and would try this (recommend visualizing the whole procedure before trying it, in case you have any questions):
    1. Put Windows 10 installation media on a USB stick using the "Create Windows 10 installation media" tool directly from Microsoft here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...load/windows10
    2. Shut down and unplug the PC.
    3. Pull any GPU that's in the new mobo now, out.
    4. Plug the monitor into the mobo via HDMI.
    5. Plug in the Windows 10 installation media USB stick.
    6. Connect the power cable and boot up the PC.
    7. If it boots on its own into the Windows 10 installation process, great, skip to Step 11, otherwise boot into the BIOS.
    8. Tell the BIOS to boot from the Windows 10 Installation Media USB. Usually this is a matter of changing the boot priority in the BIOS, basically by putting the USB at the top of the boot priority list (where the MOBO looks for operating systems when it boots).
    9. Save and reboot using this new BIOS setting.
    10. Windows installation should begin.
    11. Let the Windows installation process complete. If you're using the same C: drive, this will wipe the old Windows operating system, but you don't have a choice with a new Mobo.
    12. Once you're on the Windows 10 desktop and your system has settled down, shut down the PC.
    13. Unplug the power cable from the PC.
    14. Install the GPU but (super important) leave your monitor connected to the mobo.
    15. Plug in the power cable and boot into Windows.
    16. Download the latest version of your GPU driver and run it. It should be able to find your GPU.
    17. For good measure, reboot the PC in its current configuration and let it settle down, then shut it down.
    18. Connect the GPU to the monitor via HDMI (if it has a DisplayPort connection, still use HDMI for now).
    19. Moment of truth is now: boot into Windows (hopefully).
    20. If it works and your monitor and GPU allow you to use DisplayPort instead of HDMI, try DisplayPort by repeating Steps 17-19 with the DP cable.

Sunwheel you are a God, this is super in depth and seems like it addresses BOTH problems im having. I think I will wait to do this until I get a new empty drive, so that in case something goes horribly wrong, I dont lose all my stuff! I will let you know if I've got questions when I try it out. Thank you!

    Good call.

When installing Windows, if given a choice, be sure to install the 64-bit (x64) version, not the 32-bit (x86...a flashback to the days of Intel 8086, 32-bit processors) version. Windows may automatically select the 64-bit version during installation, because your CPU is fairly new. In that case, it won't ask you, so don't worry if it doesn't.

You probably will need another Windows 10 license key before all is said and done to fully activate Windows. Reason being is the one you have is probably an OEM license, which means it's good for only one set of hardware. I recommend another OEM license key, because they're cheap. You need a 64-bit version, not 32-bit. Say, Windows 10 Home 64-bit OEM. If you change out the GPU later, you may need another one, but that's better than spending $100 or more now. Not having one won't stop you from building your system and getting it working. Once that happens, Windows 10 will bug you for a key. Google "OEM Windows 10 Home 64-bit license key" and look for a seller that has decent ratings. Stay away from e-bay. You usually get the key via email within minutes of buying it. Here's an example:

    https://www.electronicfirst.com/gift...BoCkdsQAvD_BwE

That one is good for both 32-bit and 64-bit installations. When you activate Windows, it won't ask you, because that choice, if any, is made when installing Windows, early in the installation process.

Good news, both your mobo and GPU are PCI-E 3.0 X 16 compatible, so they *should* play together:

I dont believe my copy is OEM. I have Windows 10 from upgrading 7, so I dont have a product key but a digital license instead, that is linked to my Microsoft account. Im told that logging in to my Microsoft account when windows does eventually turn on will allow me to use my digital license instead of having to buy windows again in any form. I will definitely follow the advice though, and if it turns out I need a key, ill go to that link.

Also thank you for checking about the compatibility, I wouldnt have really known how to. Now I'm more hopeful that I can get the two working together

    Thank you so much again!!!

You should be fine as it is tied to your windows account now. If you still have your windows 7 key by any chance you could call customer support let them know you upgraded your computer and won't let you activate it. They will ask for the key and get the activation done for your new hardware.

Alrighty, at long last I received a new SSD, and was able to install windows onto the new motherboard. However, I can't get the graphics card to work. When the GPU is installed (regardless of whether my monitor is plugged into the GPU or Motherboard) the monitor will not turn on. Downloading AMD radeon drivers requires their auto-detect tool, which will not work if there is no GPU installed, but is impossible to use when the GPU IS installed because I can't click on anything when the monitor doesn't work...what should I do now, O Angles of Tech?
