Where Ships Happen 2: Too Fast, Too Furious (Newsletter)
Welcome back to what is now our second edition of AOD’s World of Warships newsletter. We hope you all safely enjoyed the holidays, got some good food, and perhaps sank some ships while knocking out those snowflakes for the free steel and coal. And yes, I said “we.” I am joined by Black Company Knight in pulling together this month’s edition. Also, a note for all of you blowing up Warhound’s inbox about Christmas crates like Rihanna collecting a debt: WoWs support said he was “too giving” this year, and issued a temporary ban on his account handing out marketplace gifts. They gave us a workaround for next year to avoid this, but if you are still waiting on a crate, please reach out to him on the forums or TeamSpeak, and he will get you taken care of.
THE MONTHLY BRIEFING
We did not hit the upcoming patch changes for the game during this month’s division meeting (audio is live here), so I just wanted to start out with a quick update on things coming down the pike. First, clearly, time is running out to get some great ships that are being pulled out of the lineup. It’s worth grabbing these if you can.
For 0.10.0 we will lose:- British battleship Thunderer, Tier X;
- European destroyer Smaland, Tier X;
- American battleship Georgia, Tier IX;
- American cruiser Alaska, Tier IX;
- American battleship Massachusetts, Tier VIII.
For 0.10.2 we will lose:- American destroyer Sommers, Tier X
But we will gain- American cruiser Austin, Tier X
Second, captain skills are going to be overhauled. You will want to be ready for that. The developers have a quick Q&A on those changes here.
Also, just a reminder that the event missions for the Strausberg end this week. Styrgis says it’s a great ship, so if you love French BBs, you will want to grab this while it’s available. You can get it free by completing the campaigns. Or you can drop some cash.
Please join me in congratulating our Sailors of the Quarter. You will each get to show off with a new forum badge until next quarter:
A: Tunamatic (Ras)
B: Samuraisb
C: Nectros
D: DevilRay
Valkyries: Black Company Knight

Calendar
With the holidays behind us, we will be resuming our weekly calendar of events. Black Company Knight will be assisting Torak for these so we can offer events in not one, but two different continents! Events will run from 7.30pm GMT / UTC and EST. As always, if you have any suggestions or ideas for events please let an officer know and we can add it to the lineup.
Starting Friday 15th January, things to watch for:- Operations Nights
- Scrimmages
- Sync Drops nights
- WoWs invades…
- Epic Games Nights
- Retro Game Nights
- Friday Fun Nights
Watch this space: A 3v3 Sprint Tournament! That’s right, nothing says fun like sinking your clanmates to advance up a bracket. Torak and I are ironing out the details, but we are looking to do a 3v3 sprint tournament starting sometime next month. We will have more details coming out in time for the next division meeting. This will likely be a two-weekend event, with the opening matches on Weekend 1, and championship rounds Weekend 2. If you guys participated in the last Tier 9 ranked sprint, this will be similar.
The basic details at the moment:- 3v3
- Any tier 6/7 ships (TBD)
- Format of 1 battleship, 1 cruiser and 1 destroyer

We have a quick review of the Smaland, for those of you debating if you want to grind it out before it's gone:

Can I have your Tots
Wish I was in this clan when I still played warships, this post looks like it'd have been so helpful.
