WoWS April Newsletter: KoTS, Getting Good-er, and Tournaments

Good morning, and welcome back to the monthly newsletter, your one-stop shop for random AOD news and errant typos. We have some exciting stuff below: New ships, a social club and more. Oh, and that little KoTS event is going on. Maybe you heard of it.

THE MONTHLY BRIEFING

We have a bunch of activities going on to keep you engaged. Do you need to get five stars on Defense of Naval Station Newport for Operations? Are you craving some competitive play? Or do you need to learn some of the basics? We have something for everyone.

Operations:
We have been doing operation nights every Friday. This is a good opportunity to get in and knock out five stars with a group of AOD guys that hopefully coordinate. And just a reminder, getting five stars gets you a forum badge award. I can assure you there are several people out there with 4/5 stars on Defense of Naval Station Newport who can use this opportunity to finally get that operation cleared. The EU crew has a poll going on right now to get their own operations nights started. You can find that here. If you are on the EU server, fill that out, and get your stars.

A Tournament:
Torak and Silent Destroyer are finishing up the details on a 3v3 tournament. There will be PRIZES for the top teams. They are looking at ships and doubloons at the moment. We will have more details coming out shortly on this as they finalize the event. Don’t sweat if you worry this may be a Tier X ships thing you can’t participate in because you are not that far along yet. We want this to be accessible to veteran and new players, so it will be a lower tier (I heard T-VIIs). Silent is also putting together a 1v1 tournament for the EU side. So stay tuned for details on that as well.

How to w/Hakymu:
Haky has been holding training sessions. The next session will be on finding those squishy citadels. Join him on Tuesday, April 27 at 8 p.m. EST. These are streamed to Discord if you can’t make it to the game, so at least you can pick up the knowledge if you cannot personally participate. Previous trainings have done great, and have focused on playing carriers, cruisers, DDs and battleships.

Dawn of Warhammer in AOD:
Do you like tabletop games, and have you been missing out getting your minis onto a tabletop in real life because of COVID-19? Well, have I got a group for you. We have a growing number of people getting together to try and get games in using Tabletop Simulator. If you have ever just wanted to try games like Warhammer 40K, Kill Team, Age of Sigmar, X-Wing, etc., this is a good opportunity. If you already have a list and just want cool people to play, this is an opportunity to shake off the rust. And if you just want to show off your awesome painting skills, that’s cool too. Ping myself, Warhound or SubetenoKami for details and we can get you hooked up with the Discord chat. We want this to be open to anyone in AOD, so even if you play CoD, iRacing or any of the other games we have, but you love tabletop games, feel free to jump in. PS: All is Dust.

King of the Seas:
AOD participated in King of the Seas this past weekend. We got off to a rough start, losing the first three games, a couple of which we had the ability to win. The team managed to rally and close out with wins on the final two matches. Here's a quick look at the results:

Much like last time, we found ourselves on the cusp of making bracket. AOD does have the ability to make the tournament bracket, and we will definitely look to put together another team next time, so if you are interested, start thinking ahead.
