We need more info as to your particulars.
Do you want a thin laptop or a desktop replacement size which are beasts.
Thin laptops pros
- Light weight
- Doesn't kill the power bill
- Easy to tote around
- Not going to make your legs go numb
Cons
- Cooling solutions are often times lacking
- Loud fans
- Built in speakers are normally terrible
- Usually has a laptop grade cpu due to heat
Desktop replacement laptop pros
- Power house usually with a desktop grade cpu
- Beefier cooling solution means fans don't run as loud as often
- More expansion slots vs thin laptops
- More upgradeable vs thin laptops (to an extent)
- Usually has more customization options
Cons
- Uses more power than thin laptops
- Better have something between it and your legs for comfort
- Heavy as heck anywhere from 13 to 16 lbs (pounds aka freedom units)
- They are BIG
For $3,000, USD I'm guessing, you can get a decent gaming laptop.
What games do you play?
I suggest getting a high FPS 1080 screen. Something like a 1080p IPS screen that can at least do 144hz.
MSI, OriginPC, HDEvolution, Asus.
Just a few names that make good laptops.

I just got an Asus with a 3060, totally happy with it. The one above has a 3080 for beastmode, r9 with 16 gig of ram will handle anything. Get a mouse and keyboard for a couple hundred more and you're around $2600-2700, leaving some money for a few new games.
I have used cyberpowerpc.com for my last three builds. I can build my own rig by buying parts from newegg, but I'd rather have the extended warranty and parts replacement option that comes with someone else building it for me.
That said, slide over to the cyberpowerpc website and select an ROG laptop based on its base specs, then customize it all to hell! Have fun with your build.
I recommend getting at least an RTX3080 graphics card if you can. I just bought a gaming laptop with a limited budget from them (it literally just arrived today and I'm using it). I was able to get a very good one with an RTX3060 for under $2K US. It was way less expensive than other laptops I specced out on other websites with the same stats.
So I bought a gaming laptop in March of this year and did a huge amount of research beforehand. First, all the RTX3000 GPUs are no longer designated with ANYTHING from Nvidia to show how powerful they are. Sure a 3080 has more shaders/RAM/etc than a 3070 but unique to laptops is how much POWER they are being supplied. This means there are 3070 GPU laptops outperforming 3080 GPU laptops. Crazy, right?
I highly recommend you check out this Google spreadsheet this guy keeps comparing all the 3000 series laptops and how they benchmark along with value:

As DirtyApe mentioned, with laptops you are also making a decision on size and weight. Me personally, when I was looking for a laptop I wanted something portable to take into the office and yet was decently powered with at least a 3070. It was also important to have something that wasn't too gamered out (weird look, too many LEDs, etc) so it wouldn't attract looks at the office. I ended up buying an MSI GS66 with an Intel i9 and 3070 which i like a lot. If I had a chance to do it again however, I'd probably also take a look at the Lenovo Legion series. They weren't released until recently but have gotten really good reviews.
