    Default Which Monitors?

    So upgrading my 1080p 22" Asus monitor and going to a dual setup with new monitors. I originally was set on a 27" but it is almost to big. I bought the HPX27q and it is very nice, just big. Maybe just need to get used to it.

    Thinking I was going to return the 27" monitors, I bought 2 of the Asus VG259QR. Also a nice monitor, however side by side, the HP looks better, clearer and more vivid. I assume thats due to the HP being 1440 vs 1080p.

    I don't know a whole lot about monitor specs, can anyone let me now which is better as an all around monitor. Most gaming I do is BF2042 and I am running a Asus Strix960...but will be upgrading when GPU prices come down to earth.

    Before looking at a monitor it's important to think about what you need

    1st would be The Panel type, there's TN, IPS & VA a good place to read up on the differences is here
    2nd would be The Refresh Rate you can see why this can be quite important in this video by LTT
    3rd and last would be What You Use It For

    What I mean by #3 is the following;
    Me, I work as a Systems Network Admin, so I need to view alot of data at the same time, I went from this setup

    Main Monitor - MSI MPG341CQR (36" 144hz VA Panel)
    'Sub' monitor - Optix MAG161V (16" 60hz IPS Panel)

    I then 'upgradded'

    This monstrosity is a Samsung CRG9, it's a 49" behemoth, 120hz VA panel as well.

    So my 'comparison' for these are;
    gaming wise the 49" hurts me more (as almost no game is setup for that resolution on a UI so things are at far corners) BUT when I'm working I found my productivity to be alot higher with this one vs the 34" + 16" monitors

    I know in BF2042 you can move your UI closer in to the center to accomodate wide monitors

    Is it possible to wall-mount anything where your rig is located? This may help with space issues. Otherwise I'd recommend as Caveman posted above and look at the 'three factors' he spoke of. Then I'd narrow it down to a few, say two or three, different monitors and fine tune from there. Generally I've found no one monitor is going to be a perfect 10 in every category. At the end of the day, after I've narrowed my choices down, I always choose the one I think looks the best since I'm going to be starting at it - a lot.

    Both the ASUS and HP are IPS rather than TN monitors, so yeah the resolution difference must be the main reason you notice a difference. I saw a big difference, too, when making the jump from 1080p to 1440p. There was a noticeable decrease in my GPU's frames-per-second output, but the difference in sharpness made that more than worth it.

    Love both of mine, especially after bumping up the "Digital vibrance" setting in NVIDIA Control Panel.

    S2721dgf is a good monitor but theres better out for a similar price now. MSI mag274qrf-qd or non qd version, LG 27gp850. I could probably list a few more but that's just off the top of my head.

    Bob, I responded, twice, to your PM, because I didn't see a copy of my first reply in the Sent folder. Then I didn't see the second one there, either. Then I realized there's a setting we have to check to automatically save sent messages in the Sent folder. Please let me know if you didn't receive either reply.

    Apologies to everybody else for bumping this thread with an off-topic post.
