I picked teamspeak mostly because when we are playing we have to be in teamspeak anyways, and i guess because ive used it longer then discord. To me discord is fine for when you are taking a break from gaming or for just chatting. I hardly open discord anyways unless im looking for someone and they arent on teamspeak.

Discord is great for text chat, sharing images/vids, and smaller voice comms (couple of people). I believe TS is much better at handling large amounts of voice in a room.

I have Discord open all day when I'm working on my second monitor so it allows me to participate in AOD discussions or talk with friends much more than using TS.

I love TS for its simplicity. I definitely prefer TS for game comms and Discord for all of the extra stuff.

It's hard to compare the two programs, really.

Teamspeak is strictly voice communication, whereas Discord is voice / text. Because Teamspeak has specialized into that one format of communication, it definitely excels in that task in a way that I have never found Discord to match up. Regardless of the server I've been on, there has always been clarity issues with Discord. I've also found times when Discord's PTT just flat out doesn't work when you are in another program. I've never encountered that with Teamspeak.

Really, though, I think AOD has things set up to maximize on all fronts. Teamspeak is ideal for voice communication as well as allowing the organizational structure that we need; Discord provides a secondary voice comms, while also providing a quick chat format that can be broken into various categories; and the forums give us a slower paced method of communication where it's easier to find certain topics.

    Well said Azreal,

I only use Discord for the odd voice call while recruiting and mostly for text communication in our Battlefield Division.

I personally like tp use TS for large groups as discord has problems with 6-10 people in one call. Well for me it does it likes to kick people form the call and even crashes at times. TS is just set up better to handle a large volume of people in a server and it work fine(most of the time)

like teamspeak you need to run discord as an admin to get around that issue.
