    Is that overclocked to the max 5.7 under max load or something? That's an insane amount of heat.

    I'm curious to know what cooling solution people are using with temps this high or what their ambient temps are.

    For example, I recently did a r7 7700X build for someone;
    Went with an Asus STRIX X670e Gaming Wifi, 64gb ram, RTX 3070ti ect.... you know, the "good" stuff haha'

    But for cooling we went with a ROG RYUJIN II 360 and it cools it like a champ, under a prime95 test (waited 2 hours to ensure the loop was fully heatsoaked) I was at 83~85°C, my ambient temps are 22°C though.

    I wouldn't accept it but it wouldn't keep me from buying it if I was interested either. Some slight tuning drops temps dramatically. I think it's bs and AMD is just doing it because they had to go with a thicker ihs to fit the 3d cache in on later chips and keep current cooler support. I honestly think they are very underwhelming and won't be buying one. Especially since I'm already on 12th gen so a bios update and I can swap in a 13th gen and have a faster gaming chip than 7000 series offers currently.

    Seems so but that's unacceptable. Needs better cooling then.
    All the new stuff consumes too much power. It's getting out of hand.

    People probably said something similar to this 30 years ago.

    Though I do agree that 95c is on the ridiculous side, more powerful hardware requires more power, more power creates more heat.

    The IHS is way too thick to allow any kind of meaningful cooling, short of custom water loop.

    De8auer did a delid on it, and boom, 20C drop.

    He didn't just do a delid. He delidded and did direct die cooling. 20° drop is normal for direct die. People took that way out of hand.
