June 6th 1944
Thousands of Men threw themselves upon 5 beaches in France. They did it to free a country from tyranny. They did it to free the oppressed. They did it so people could be free. They did it for me and they did it for you. They knew there was a large chance they would not survive and yet they did it anyway. It was their duty. They didn't know us, they did't have to and yet they would do it all over again. For you...For me...For future generations.
Let us take just a few moments of your busy day to reflect on the sacrifice they made for you and me and everyone else who has the rigth to walk down the street without showing paperwork or going through checkpoints. To practice whatever religion we see fit. To live our lives the way we want to live our lives. It is because of these men that we have the freedom we have today. Freedom., thats an interesting word Freedom. But Freedom is not free is it? There is a price to be paid for it and these men PAID that price. Those that suirvived still pay the price today in the form of memories and watching their friends being cut to pieces. They live it every day.
Now there are so FEW Veterans left that were there. Let us honor those that didn't make it oiff the beaches.
