can you link existing account to steam and do it without redownloading the game threw steam?
Yes.
Copy your War Thunder folder into the steam common folder (Ex. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common ) It will make you download steam specific files, but (at least at release) that was only 900 MB.
Then launch War Thunder via steam and sign in as you normally would. The purchases will go to the first account you sign in with after purchase by my understanding. So don't buy a bunch of planes and let your buddy sign in. :P
I found this from a post I made back in August and it worked pretty good. The difference is I made a folder but the directions are pretty much the same!
Here is what I did, found it on the WT forums:
Go to \Steam\steamapps\common, make a folder called War Thunder and copy the game files into this folder, then proceed to install the game via steam. you will most likely get an update that is around 900MB or so. When all files are download, you may use your War Thunder login and password to enter the game and play it with Steam features and options.
Once you do this you can switch back and forth between the launchers however if a patch is released both launchers will run the patch.
I already got all the packs but the Steam one.. :'( ... which i just bought now so.... To battle!!!!!!!!!!1
thank you, i had an idea of how that would work but i didnt want to mess up anything with my current premium account/planes.
nice
