Short version:

Every match you will research two things if they are available:

1.a plane you have not unlocked, so choose a plane for research points to work towards.

2. any mods you have not unlocked on each plane in your line up. select mods for each plane in your lineup the same way as before and apply the RP after each match when asked to do so.

Planes that are "mastered" with all mods unlocked are now called "elite" and will have a little spade icon in the lower right corner of that planes icon in your research tree/screen.

In every match your RP's you earn go toward the research of the plane you selected and the mods for the planes in your line up that are not mastered.

You can still unlock several mods in one match if you perform well in one plane...it will ask you at the end of the match what to mod to apply "any left over RP" for mods.

Each Plane your trying to to research will tell you ON THE ICON which plane will unlock it the fastest..always the plane immediately in front of it on the tech tree....flying that plane will unlock your new plane the fastest....but flying any plane will add to unlocking it , just much less PR for it earned.
