    Default Joysticks

I'm considering a purchase of a Joystick for some simulator battles. Any suggestions?

All Depends on your Budget. You can buy the best joystick and pedals for $650. Or there are cheaper options.

    Joysticks

    $44 - > http://www.amazon.com/Thrustmaster-T...s=Thrustmaster

    $120 - > http://www.amazon.com/Saitek-X52-Fli...1&keywords=X52

    $150 - > http://www.amazon.com/Saitek-X52-Fli...2&keywords=X52

    $420 - > http://www.amazon.com/Thrustmaster-H...rthog+joystick

    Pedals

    $90 - > http://www.amazon.com/CH-Products-Pe...=Saitek+pedals

    $100 - > http://www.amazon.com/Saitek-Pro-Fli...=Saitek+pedals

    $172 - > http://www.amazon.com/Saitek-Flight-...=Saitek+pedals

You get what you pay for. The T Flight Hotas is a great entry level set up, but it usually only has a 6 month lifespan. Other than that, the list is of relatively durable sticks I've recommended.

If you're in it for the long haul, I'd recommend the X52 Pro ($150). Though a lot of people don't like twisty sticks. So what they do is buy the X52 or the X52 Pro and then buy a set of pedals while they are at it.

The Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog is the top of the line. I'm debating selling a kidney for it. Know that it is not a twisty stick, and has no yaw function. So if you do get it, you also need a set of pedals as well. So you're looking at it for $500 -> $600 for the best.

There's also the Saitek X55, it's their newest stick that's currently available for pre-order. It's a good mid-range between the X52 pro and the X65f from what I've read. I've been as of yet unable to determine however if the X55 is going to be a linear hall sensor or a non-linear sensor like the X52.

Now that is cool! I know the X65 had a lot of problems. And was looking to upgrade my ancient X45 soon.

When I was researching Joysticks on the the War Thunder forums this one was mentioned a lot:
    http://www.amazon.com/Hercules-29607...s=Thrustmaster

I have been thinking about buying this one because it's for right and left handers.

Good resources here. Thank you. I'll be checking them all out. I'm shooting between $100-$150. I'd rather spend a little extra and have something that works well and lasts.

Not sure how immersed you want to get but the Logitech 3D Pro is a good joystick.

I have tried a lot of joysticks in my time, including thrustmaster and Cyborg F.L.Y 5....
The best I got was Logitech 3D Pro, witch can take all the punishment I give it. I'm
very happy with mine, and if it brakes I will replace it immediately...

This. I own this joystick and it's serving me very well. I wish that there were a few more buttons, but other then that, I love it.

    MMMMMKay,

So I bought the Saitek X52 as it was in the price range I was looking to pay ($10) more than the Amazon gift card I had)

NOW I need to set it up and was wondering if anyone had any suggested configurations. Any thoughts are appreciated.

I have reviewed Part 1 & 2 of these Youtube videos... I think it's a good start and then you can tweak from here.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kI6scf-iX7s

Remember to save your current settings so you have something to fallback on if you do not like these settings.

BTW... I am surprised several of you like the logitech 3D pro... I broke 2 of them each within a 6 month timeframe. They both stopped returning to center and then the rudder started drifting too!

This is what I was cursing about Friday night. Broke the throttle arm. 5 pieces of wood, 1 drill, 1 dremel, half a thing of gorilla glue and some wire and I think it's pretty stable now...

    Dannes,

that is impressive! So that's how you keep a joystick working for 10 years!
