    Default Headsets

Does anyone have a recommendation for a headset, I currently use a cheap uncomfortable one with a short lead that is very annoying indeed.

    I'm tempted to go wireless..

The audiophiles amongst you will say to get a decent pair of headphones and an add-on mic, which is fine but I am by nature lazy and want to just pick up one thing :)

    Any thoughts much appreciated...

Try a Turtle beach P11, they work really well, but are wired.

I originally had a good pair of Turtle Beach headsets but the compression areas are made of a thin plastic and eventually broke. The sound was amazing the quality was poor.

I switch to the Razer Megalodon because it is well built and so far seems very sturdy!

Sound is not as nice as the Turtle Beach but I bought this baby to last!

The Megalodon is a USB headset and Turtle Beach comes with a Y-cable that connects to your mic and sound card allowing you to connect your speakers to it. The advantage of the Turtle Beach design is you can switch to your speakers. With the USB headset, you have to un-plug it to listen to your speakers.

I use a Turtle Beach high end wireless set , and the problem with wireless === it takes batteries for the mic....so It constantly drains two AA so had to buy rechargables for that as well.

I intially used these on XBOX but they are equally great on the PC, otherwise I would have went wired.

My son uses a turtle beach mid range wired headset ( around $40-50 USD) Earforce X12 or something like that and I honestly cant tell the difference in my $300 set. His is lighter and wired (no battery issues)! go figure

while in raw audo quality the seinheisers & turtle beach are better. Note the audio quality is still excellent though. The other two are just better at simulating surround sound in that they simulate full 360 sound better. Though that being said, I have no issues with my koss head set identifying which directions foot steps\noises are coming from.

No body beats koss for the reliability, ruggedness, or warranty that koss offers.

I have literally thrown my SB49 across the room at a concrete wall without damaging it. and even if I had. it has a lifetime warranty, and that is your life time, not the products.

I have had them rma a 29 year (yes 29 year ) old set of head phones and replace it with a brand new modern day equivalent (twice, because I had a second, and after the first RMA, the second... well... it had an "accident". the second was one I inherited, the first was a gift).

I use Triton 720+. They are quiet expensive as they run you about $150.00 USD but thats what you pay for when you get 7.1 surround sound.

Thanks to everyone for your comments and experiences.

In the end I went with Logitech 930. Special deal at Amazon for $69.99. Wireless, 7.1 and not breaking the bank.

I'll post if this turns out to have been a very good or very bad decision

    Thanks, as always,

I've been playing a few days without voice ability now due to my old headset broke down.
I work in retail business, so I can buy them in one of our stores, yet due to some bad luck still haven't had the chance to buy one. Monday we had an official holiday, so all stores were closed, tuesday I worked at a brand new shop that only opens its doors next saturday & where sales were not yet possible, today I worked in a store where the one I wanted to buy was out of stock (last one was stolen yesterday & new stock arriving tomorrow). Lol.
Tomorrow I'll be working in yet another store, hope I will be able to buy one then

I recommend the Astro A50s. Best headset I've ever had but pricy.
