Knee High to a Worms Ass
CPU frequency?
Hey guys, I have been using the AMD FX-8350 8 core cpu black edition for about a month now and I have just realized that it has been running on 2.2 GHZ,
On the box of the cpu I got it says 4.0 Ghz and 4.2 turbo.
I looked around google and people are saying the cpu is not on full load. But i tried downloading prime 95 and did a torture test on 100% load on the cpu only to find it still on 2.2 ghz.
Is this normal? or am I doing somthing completely wrong? Im not much of a computer tech guy..
Please HELP ME OUT!

Go into your BIOS and see if it's running at the correct frequency. It may have been set wrong at some point.
To get into your BIOS, hit F2 before Windows boots up when turning on your computer. Be careful when changing things in your BIOS though. Do something wrong, and you could damage your computer. However, just changing your CPU frequency to 4.0Ghz shouldn't harm a thing. While the CPU can go higher (faster) than that, I'd recommend not messing aroun with overclocking unless you've done a lot of research on it. A few times I thought I had fried my computer. I've been lucky though. Lol
