Default AOD logo on b17 in game user skin. You can Get Compensated for Quality work

Did a test drive on the user skin process so just placed an AOD logo on B17 wings real quick to learn how it works.

Now that i learned the steps to making user skins we will see what i have time to come up with, but don't hold your breath skin templates are laid out all over the place so just editing the skin for specific areas can get time consuming just for skin that only shows up on client side.

They did make a post though that you can upload user skins and any that get voted into the game you can be compensated for so thats good, maybe great work on a skin would not be for nothing.

Earn Compensation for Quality User Creations put into the game, Read the FAQ here:

Skins seem intimidating at first, and each one is different and creating really cool ones can take time. However once you get the "hang of it" they become much easier and quicker to produce. I have a lot of experience in creating skins for my racing cars and the process is exactly the same. A few important tips that will help shorten your learning curve:

    1) Learn to use Photoshop (or whatever editing program you use) layers. They are essential for keeping track of complex skin elements
    2) Visualize your concept in 3 dimensions
    3) Learn to visualize in mirror images (some elements will need to be created on the 2 dimensional skin in reverse of what they will appear in the final rendering)
    4) Understand that you are putting down a 2 dimensional image that will be mapped to a 3 dimensional surface. This will distort some elements and things will end up not appearing how or where you intended. So sometimes if you want a visually straight line on the plane you actually have to make the line curved on the skin since it will be "mapped" to the the 3d shape
    5) Each skin template is different. Sometimes it is difficult to visualize what a template element actually is and to figure out where it is on the plane you have to put a color on it, render it, and see what part it actually is.
    6) Experiment experiment experiment. Hard disk space is cheap and you just delete all your experiments. Try stuff, render it, if it looks great, super, if not delete it and try something else.
    7) Keep version levels of you work in progress. You will inevitably accidentally delete something you really liked and having revision history makes it easier to recover.

Here is a very complex Formula 1 car skin and the resulting rendering. I've done this a lot and am happy to help anyone who wants to dabble in skin creation. Eventually they will have a server side capability like the racing games do so everyone can see your custom skin.
