Cheap movie Special Effects
I've been wondering about cheap alternatives to professional special effects. So far I've expanded of Spielberg's "stick in the sand" technique to simulate explosions, by rigging a bicycle foot pump to a special type of bladder used in mining that's buried a bit under ground. Right now I'm wondering about bloodspatter. My sisters a nurse, so I had access to surgical tubing, which is a really flexible and easy to hide, and using a turkey baster to expel the fluid. Unfortunately, from the lack of force the turkey baster provides, it looks more like someone spit on the floor than had the blood shot onto the wall. I'd like to do my best to not use chemicals for anything, whether it be simulating bloodspatter to firing a bullet, as that is when costs start getting too high. Anyone have ideas that might help my predicament, as well as have any other tips they can provide for cheap special effects?
