    Default Overclocking

I am finally getting to overclocking my processor and I could use any tips or tricks that anyone could give. I've tried to search google, and have found a few things (mostly on the asus bios), but I'm still curious on where to start with voltages. I know that every chip is different, but I just don't have any clue on where to start and good ways to test stability. My goal right now is to clock it to 4.4gHz.

    Case: Corsair Obsidian 550D
    Motherboard: Asus Z87 pro
    Processor: i5 4670k
    CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i
    Memory: 16GB Corsair Vengeance
    Hard Drive: WD black 1TB
    Power: CORSAIR HX Series HX750
    Graphic: GeForce GTX 760 supercloacked

Thanks in advance to anyone that helps, it's much appreciated!

I found this article and the links in it super helpful, but I had a friend help me with the details. I'm definitely interested in whatever anyone else has to offer; thanks for starting this thread.

For the 4670K, someone got 4.4Ghz using 1.22V (link here)

Thanks for the links. I was playing around with it yesterday, I managed to get my cpu at 4.4 with 1.2v, but the only stress that i have put on it was playing Planetside 2 with no crash. temp hasn't really changed much, maybe only a couple degrees C.

PS2 will probably be one of the only games that can stress test a processor at that speed... other than that you would have to run a CPU stress test (or a poorly optimized game...)

    What degrees C are u running? I oc'd my i7 970 from 2.8 to 3.3, and did not see much improvement in game. I also swapped my ram from 1333 ddr3 6gb to 12gb of 1666 ddr3.

Honestly think my issue is my video cards, as I'm running dual almost 4 year old 1gb 5780's in SLI

My temps right now average about 36C, but my radiator is fairly large

I'm also not a fan of the i7 with its dual threading...

Have you considered going to liquid cooled?

Heck, even before I OC'd I never saw below 40C. I sit mid 40s now idle, and mid 50s with PS2

The H100i really does a good job with transferring the heat.

After a couple crashed today, i bumped up my voltage to 1.22 and that seemed to hold, my cpu was at 100% for a good while, which no more desktop crashes... tho PS2 has been crashing a lot on me today, but that might be due to logitech gaming software crashes hard all the time, and using a ton of cpu utilization. -_-
