    The bigger question is will you be happy with this CPU for the next 4 to 5 years. Look at the genre you cling to, and ask yourself if this will be viable, then. I bought a high-end laptop in 2010 when virtualization was not popular in school curriculum, but is very much the norm in portable computing today. I spent the extra dough for a CPU and MOBO that would sustain my 5 year goals.

    While I agree that I prefer that an intel processor is generally my recommend, the price for these octocores isn't that bad. Especially since the cpus aren't really bottlenecking games that much, and generally speaking, certain programs like vegas can run better on an octocore.
