Yup. I have the same processor and got it to overclock to 5ghz. Very good performance for the price. It is hard to tell ic it is worth it for you since you havent told use what you already have.

Just make sure it works with your motherboard.

Yep good deal, you're at about $150 for the 8350 now and $200 for the top of the line 8370.

I'm not mentioning the 9350 and 9370 because they would require more upgrading.

Good deal, but make sure your motherboard can handle it properly, 8+2 phase power that has heatsinking is needed if you plan on overclocking it. (it will easily pull over 200 watts when overclocked at around 4.5-4.7GHz).

You will also need a good heatsink, the stock cooler will not handle any overclocking that involves increasing the voltage unless the environment will consistently be cold.

Yes, ty I saw that. Seems the 8350 was about 20% better on the Benchmarks. No idea if they are all that accurate, but makes me feel like I know what I am talking about....when I really do not.

A little information can be dangerous!

fx8320 and fx 8350 are the same processor, save your money. Yes one "defaults" to a higher clock, but just go into the bios and change the multiplier yourself. Within a minute any fx8320 can be turned to an an fx8370 (as long as your cooling is good) . Greatest thing about AMD is they are all unlocked, unlike the money grubbers at intel.

If you live by a Fry's, they have an in-store deal i5-4670k, which is a much better CPU for 170 dollars. That of course requires you to have the right socket motherboard.

I would strongly recommend these two sites when looking at CPUs & Video Cards:

    www.cpuboss.com

    www.gpuboss.com

I looked at the FX8 series and, after many comparison of bench tests & value for money, I chose the FX6300. The overclocking ability with stock standard fan is 40%, average, while staying at a steady temp on full load. I have mine overclocked, slightly, to the point where the FX8300 starts & I paid 1/3 of the price.

BTW, I was originally running this with a Gigabyte GTX650Ti but I have since purcahsed an AMD R9 280X (which is stable & awesome as hell)

    Hope that helps.
    Lest we forget...
    Rest in peace AOD_Quake-id & AOD_hailhydra2018

The bigger question is will you be happy with this CPU for the next 4 to 5 years. Look at the genre you cling to, and ask yourself if this will be viable, then. I bought a high-end laptop in 2010 when virtualization was not popular in school curriculum, but is very much the norm in portable computing today. I spent the extra dough for a CPU and MOBO that would sustain my 5 year goals.

While I agree that I prefer that an intel processor is generally my recommend, the price for these octocores isn't that bad. Especially since the cpus aren't really bottlenecking games that much, and generally speaking, certain programs like vegas can run better on an octocore.
