Default Building a rig for my girlfriend

    Hi techies!

I've decided to built my girlfriend a gaming PC since she LOVES to come over to my place and use my rig. I'm glad she enjoys the power of an actual computer. She is currently using her 4 year old CrapBook Pro. I think its time to build her a big girl PC.

Currently she is playing The Sims 4, but I plan to get her interested in some next-gen MMOs and possibly even Skyrim. My budget is around $1000 including a mechanical keyboard (she almost tried to steal mine once). I will supply her with my current monitor (1920x1080) and buy myself a new one.

Could yall give me some pointers? I've built two of my own, but I'm worried about conflicts in the mATX build im planning. Here is what I've decided on for now.

Everything looks good except the gpu. Any way you could get a cheaper case and/or scrounge up a hdd from an old system and use that money to get a better graphics card?

Women love diamonds, especially when displayed in 1080p on maximum settings.

Those are the only diamonds she will be seeing for a while. The analog ones are tough to come by I hear.

I may just give her one of my SSDs and a 1 TB HDD I own. With the savings I could put a 760 Ti and possibly a i7-4790. I'll keep my fingers crossed for heavenly cyber monday prices...

I don't see a mouse. Razer Deathadder is what I use, I recommend it.

I have a RAT (3) mouse. I was surprised how comfortable they are (small hands and fingertip grip). I went through probably 10 mice before settling on this one. My buddy also loves his death adder but he has larger hands and uses palm grip.

If you're gonna fork over good money for a gal-rig, protect it with a better PSU. Sure, 550W is adequate, but you're talking about Skyrim, and maybe some of the newer games coming out. Keep this beast fed for those high-end gaming experiences down the road. Remember, consider your purchase lasting 4 to 5 years, as is.

With a higher rated PSU, you can expand your GPU component. PSU are much more tolerant when all resources are barely pushing it, unlike when you max out your system, and PSU is dragging its feet. That is a good way to destroy your PSU quickly, and in a hurry. PSU should be working comfortably, even on a heavy load.
