Most of their efforts seem to be on making steam better, however, when they do release something, rest assured it will be great!

Valve definitely adheres to the "when it's done" programming philosophy, and not the "maximize income" philosophy.
As much I would love another valve title, I'm glad that they wait.

I also agree on the waiting thing. I'd prefer to have a fully functional game at release that we KNOW the devs put some love into. VALVe just kinda works on their own schedule as well, anyone ever seen how they operate? Nobody is the boss of anyone, they all just kinda collaborate.

My guess would be that their next game (and first ever 3rd game) will be Left 4 Dead 3. It would be the easiest to continue as it doesn't involve ALL that much innovation as well as not having to have to follow a story arc. Half-Life 3 will need new story in the arc, and Portal 3 will need to have new goodies to play with.
