Is anyone planning on making the plunge? Also apparently its free for 8.1 users. Anyone have any opinions on it?

I have access to the technical preview if someone wants to check it out, and I'm planning to upgrade.
Looks pretty good. Will probably get it since its free and for directx 12. The Xbox One streaming ability sounds kind of stupid though. Since you normally stream from a more powerful device to a less powerful one (like with the NVidia shield), not the other way around. Hololens will also probably fail for the same reason the kinetic did. A controller or keyboard/mouse is a lot more efficient at inputting information than gestures in the air. I'm just hoping all this stuff they are adding can be manually turned off, so they are not constantly running in the background.
Since it's available for both 7 and 8 for free, I will probably take the plunge. And following MS' tick-tock awesome-crappy release schedule this one should be at least somewhat decent.
No, 8 was bad, 8.1 is good, 10 will be absolute shit.
I'm running 8.1, It sucks in the fact that microsft doesn't play well with others and 3rd party driver support isn't there. Logitech does not support 8.1, only 8 because of microsoft, so their software is broken on 8.1... I honestly didn't even see much of a difference between the 2, but that may be because i run classic shell.
7 is great, but 10 is bringing a 7-8 hybrid start menu. I am getting it for the directx 12, def, and because FrEe sHiT!
I am already building a new direct x12, 4k capable machine. Win 10 will be put to good use on it.
I just got he Tec. Preview! Everything looks good so far...
Running windows 95 here, just stick my floppies in. Oh wait, no I'm not on words and upwards.
Seriously though, windows 10 is amazazing. All the things we wanted and more, though cortana? Could they have picked a less halo fan boy version of Siri ?
The new browser meant to replace Internet Explorer is codenamed Spartan. Hello, Halosoft.
Has anyone seen performance issues with certain programs or games on Win10?
I've been tempted to get the 10 pre-release version (or whatever it is they're calling it, technical preview?) but I only have the one machine and I don't want to brick it and be stuck with no gaming rig.
I saw some benchmarks a while back indicating about 10 less fps in some games on Windows 10, compared to 8.1. That's probably due to Windows 10 not being optimized yet. I have also read that Windows 10 spies on you pretty heavily as part of the 'testing purposes'. I'll be waiting until the release and seeing how the spying issues are addressed.
seeing as I can't even tell the difference between a video card and a stick of ram. im going to have to give that a hard no.
If you do anything with heavy programs or graphics cards, NEVER go to a preview release! Drivers and softwarre take a while to update, therefore I probably won't be upgrading until I know my programs will run without problems. I learned then when I used the windows 7 preview...
Ouch. Now I know. My roommate went to it. So at least I get to see it and hear about it.
