    Default Gaming Mouse and SSD

I am in the market for a new gaming mouse, mainly play Battlefield, but I also play some SWTOR and Defiance occasionally. I am leaning toward either Razer or Logitech as I already have the software for both installed for my keyboard (Logitech G510) and Razer's Synapse for current mouse/virtual surround for my headset (Steel Series V2 Frost Blue USB). It needs to be under $75.

I am also looking for a new SSD. I have a Samsung 840 EVO 120GB that died on me after about 1TB of reads/writes so I switched back to a mechanical drive. I am looking for at least a 240GB replacement for it. I know most people recommend the 840 or the 850, but are they really the only two worth getting? I saw something recently about the Crucial BX100 being a pretty good drive, but I haven't seen any comparisons with that and the 840/850 from Samsung. How about Intel, Kingston, SanDisk, Corsair, OCZ, and the like? They are all pretty good with flashdrives, how well are their SSD's? I would prefer to stay under $100, but will be willing to go to $125 if necessary depending on the size of the drive. Would a hybrid drive even be worth looking at?

I currently only have 4 internal SATA ports, 2 are 3GB/s and the other 2 are 6GB/s. Between my HD-DVD/BluRay combo optical drive and my other hard drives, I don't have any extra space. I am planning on getting an internal expansion card with more ports, but I haven't found one I like yet, so any recommendations on that would be welcome as well.

    Thanks!

As far as gaming mouses go, I'd personally recommend getting the Razer Naga. I've had one for a few years now and it works great. It took me a while to get used to the thumb buttons being in weird spots (Seriously, who's fucking idea was it to put the THUMB buttons right under the middle knuckle on your hand?). I get by with just rebinding the thumb buttons to whichever of the 12 keypad buttons I feel like using.

Also, for MMO's (Like SWTOR) it is an absolute godsend. Having all of your abilities in one easy to use spot on your mouse really makes things a LOT easier.

I had the Razor Naga Epic for years as well, but i switched over to the Logitech G600
    http://gaming.logitech.com/en-us/pro...o-gaming-mouse

Why i like it over the Naga is that the buttons are very easy to get used to in that they have different elevations so you clearly know if your in the first row or the second row without even looking at your hand

The color scheme is fully customizable so that you can control what color is gradiented or even solid

The surface of the mouse clearly does not attract anything, i had a problem with my naga just getting filthy all the time from various things food, and body and it was gross had to clean it up all the time

Finally with the color customization it also is fully customization you can tell it what buttons you want each of its buttons to be or like the Naga it has two default templates, it also has the ability to have multiple templates at once.

AKA you can have the middle two buttons shift up and down through templates, multiplying your buttons exponentially.

I personally went from the Cyborg RAT 5, to the Razer Naga Hex to the Logitech g502 and plan to stick with the 502 for a long, long time. Optical sensor feels so much more precise compared to the other laser mice (it also lets you calibrate the sensor to many different surfaces), button placement is great, material doesn't get all sweaty, size feels very nice, and adjustable weights to top it all off. For shooters, this is probably one of the best you can buy.

I like the concept of the Naga and the G600, which would be great for SWTOR and Defiance, but I'm not sure how much I would use all those extra side buttons to be honest. I have a G510 keyboard with 18 programmable keys on the left side. I rarely use more than a couple of those. The G502 looks nice and I really like the ability to tune the sensor. How well does that work though? Is it a noticeable difference between the default and a "tuned" profile? I currently have a Wolf King gaming mat that I am using because my son doesn't let me use my big Fatal1ty gaming mat. (well, I can use it, he just doesn't let me keep it clean)

I use the Razer Deathadder. Simple, sleek, and the extra 2 mouse buttons are phenomenal for using voice chat.

Not sure about the sensor as I calibrated it right when I got it but it feels much more accurate than both mouses I had before.

As a Naga user I originally brought it to play swtor but wow I have found so many uses for those extra buttons and so many games that I can programme them to.

    Wow
    Swtor
    Tera
    Battlefield 3
    Battlefield 4
    Minecraft
    Warframe
    To name a few

So, I am currently debating between the Razer Naga Hex and the Logitech G502. Thanks for the help with those. Anyone have any recommendations for the SSD?

Crucial make solid reliable SSDs. Middle of the road on price/performance but they are rock solid on longevity and reliability.

My razor lasted 11 months, my current logitech is still in commission after 3 years. I'm using the g400, it has a pretty classic body and is comfortable for me, but i think the g400s is the new version. I just bought a Kingston 120gb ssd on sale and threw win 8 on there, it works nice but not sure how long it will last we will see. If you're more of a finger gripper then i heard the cm storm spawn is really good for that.

So I'm stuck deciding on a Crucial BX100 vs the Samsung 850 EVO. The BX100 is nice for the price, but the 850 is nice with the 3D storage. Decisions, decisions...

I'd get that G502 it looks like you'd get a good experience in FPS games and it's also got 3 side buttons plus 3 scroller buttons that can all be modified by shift alt and control so you can potentially get 18 bindings to your mouse

I've been running a 120gb Kingston ssd for a little over 3 years without issue. Fairly cheap but haven't had any issues so far

The Crucial BX100 is their newest line. It replaced the MX line.

I ordered the G502, with my discount at Walmart it came out to cheaper than anywhere else I could find it.

Mokona, you were the one that helped in my other thread about my old SSD, correct? The BX100 is new, and cost is low. The 850 EVO has been around for a while longer, tested more, and has the new 3D vertical storage which is supposed to be more cost and power efficient compared to regular MLC and TLC storage from what I have seen. The thing is I haven't really seen anything that compares the 850 EVO to the BX100 in terms of performance for the ~250GB size range.

The 850 evo performs similarly to the 850 pro until the 3GB write buffer gets filled. If you can afford the 850 evo, then it is a better choice. Even with TLC NAND, with the larger process node (in the 30+nm range) it will likely last longer than 19nm or smaller MLC NAND. Though one thing that has not been tested with the 850 evo, is if it has the same voltage drift problem as with the 840 evo, which caused massive performance drops (to levels lower than that of a standard hard drive).
