Get used to WASD controls. Don't set your FOV too high. Play on empty servers to get used to vehicles.

If there's anything in particular you get destroyed in, let us know :D

The first carbine is really good, the AK5C. I have over 6000 kills with that.

I prefer running medic with defibs and a med bad for heals. Stay in cover until you have full health again. My favourite weapon for medic is the Ace 23 assault rifle.

Use what feels comfortable to you. If you like slower rate of fire but more accurate guns try the SCAR-H for the Assault; the opposite end of that spectrum may be the AEK or the F-2000. Those are higher rate of fire guns. The shotguns and PDWs have been buffed recently - making them even more of a beast in close quarters. Try out the M1014 shotgun or the MX4 PDW; they are some favorites right now. While Drew mentioned playing safe, I recommend the contrary. I have found that rushing head first into the actions can score you a lot of kills/points, as well as get you a feel for the flow of the game.

Also the defensive perk is great for new players, as it reduces bullet damage to the chest, allowing you to survive an extra shot or two.

    Play in the Test Range.

I do. A lot. Try out different guns, practice running and shooting. Practice moving over obstacles and around them.

Spend 30 minutes in the Test Range doing nothing. Try some vehicles. Shoot the targets and the flying exploding barrels.

Shoot the brick walls to feel out the recoil and see the spread of the bullets.

And for flying, bind pitch up to spacebar. It'll make a huge difference.

Unlock the FAMAS. It's base gun is good enough to hold it's own. It's got a 1000 fire rate so it's easy to win close quarters battles and it teaches you to tap fire to shoot people at mid range.

Also, the rest of AOD will love you for using it :D

Legacy, don't forget to use those 100 and 200 xp boosts to fly through a progression. (E.g. Unlock all the ARs in one night)

If you want to increase your ability in firefights play Death match for 2 hours a days. After about a month or so, your muscle memory should start taking over. Also, play slower than you would normally play in other fps's. You can't be punished by playing slowly and only help yourself. Just don't confuse playing slowly with playing passive.
Donít give up saying youíre living within your means.
Donít become a boring man like that.
