Default Damsel in distress, need tech guys!

okay well not really a damsell.. or in an exessive amount of distress but Ive come to the sad realization that my computer is getting a tad bit old. Now I dont know much about these things but basicly what Im wondering is if Im gonna be fine just replacing a few things or if the whole thing has got to go.
    What Ive got is basicly:
    Intel i7 2600 @ 3.4GHz 8CPUs
    ASUSTeK P8P67 LE motherboard
2x DDR3 4GB RAM (8GB total) (Motherboard allows for 2 more slots to be used)
    AMD Radeon HD 6870 1GB

If theres any additional info you would require to best advice me than please state what and how I find it.

    Thanks in advance gents!

My roof is about $1200 with the current exchangerate. But such a price would pretty much be an entire new machine would it not?

Your CPU is still really awesome. 8GB of RAM is fine as long as you aren't a super multi-tasker. Your motherboard looks pretty solid too. It doesn't support PCIe 3.0 which newer graphics cards can utilize and this segues me into my next thought.

Your AMD Radeon HD 6870. It's a tad outdated that this point, since games continue to push the envelope. Your biggest performance upgrade would be to grab a newer video card. A nVidia GTX 970 is a pretty sweet card and wouldn't hurt your budget that much, but you could go bigger if you like. There is a handy chart at TomsHardware.com that ranks video cards based on performance ---> http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...ew,3107-7.html

As you can see your 6870 is down multiple tiers. You will definitely notice a difference upgrading this component. If you are feeling extra sassy you could also grab a solid-state drive. They won't increase fps much but will help greatly with load times. I've tossed all my games on 2 SSDs and I wouldn't have it any other way.

For about half of your budget you could get a 970 and a decent size SSD and reap some awesome benefits.

That's just my 5 cents. (we don't have 2 cents here anymore)

TO be honest you're not going to see a difference in performance in upgrading the cpu. 2600k is still amazing, maybe if you played just Arma 3 and Starcraft II, the i5 5775c would be a good option if you went down that route. Personally I would upgrade the gpu, and spend the most on that, you may also give your cpu a mild overclock that would negate any performance if you were to upgrade to a stock cpu. Then buy a big phat SSD. Pretty much what Warstain said, and you'll be good to go for a while.

So I've been an Nvidia guy for years now, owned 3 different cards over last 5 years, but the new 390 8gb D5 is the same price point as the 970 and pulls ahead in higher rez settings and sits the same or a few frames faster in basically everything.
