Icon14 latency issues / speed up internet.

Myself and a few others have had latency issues recently it could be because of porn, ddos protection, derekjeter streaming his butthole in 1080p idk the cause but i've found some methods that have helped quite a few other people including myself and here it is.

Open up a command prompt as an admin ( if you have windows 8-10 you should be able to right click start then choose "run command admin" )
    Do the following steps.

Type "ipconfig /flushdns" and press Enter.
Type "ipconfig /registerdns" and press Enter.
Type "ipconfig /release" and press Enter.
Type "ipconfig /renew" and press Enter.
Type "netsh winsock reset" and press Enter.
    Restart the computer.

I also found a nifty tool that will config your ethernet/wireless adapter to optimal settings called SG TCP Optimizer which can be downloaded here http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php
In SG TCP Optimizer in the adapter dropdown menu choose all adapters and then click optimal settings and apply "you will have to restart your pc after this as well".

[ DNS SERVERS ] i've done research and it is said a DNS server has nothing to do with your ping in games but I disagree because my ISP dns is total garbage and have found google dns to be much better on my latency/browsing speed.

If you want to test to see if google DNS is better for you just goto your adapter settings and for ipv4 dns use 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 - ( if you don't notice a speed increase just set it back to automatic )
Also if you want to take the time to find out the fastest DNS server for your location there is a program that will ping thousands of DNS servers to see which one has the best latency for you which can be found here https://code.google.com/p/namebench/

    ------------------------------------------------------------

IF NONE OF THE ABOVE HELPS

    ------------------------------------------------------------

Find a program that scans your area for the least busy wireless channel (if you use wireless) If you are living in an apartment or homes that are bunched together usually cable/dsl companies don't care to test the congestion of wireless channels in your vicinity.
For example if there is 5+ other wireless routers near your home on channel 6 then there is a good chance it can cause congestion and limit your speeds or cause random spikes.

last tip which I have done myself is to check your router settings and see if you have a bandwith limiter / QoS.
Most routers have QoS so just find a gaming tutorial on google on howto set it up to where your games will have priority over your bandwidth.
"QoS works just fine but if you want to limit the bandwith of each connection in your household see if your router is compatible with tomato firmware or DD-WRT firmware which is unofficial firmware that enables you to tweak your router/modem and have many many more options than you would with the standard firmware.

    hope this helps.

No they will not ruin your pc Rueban.

You can mess up your modem tho if you don't install firmware properly so if anyone ever takes that step to install tomato/ddwrt custom firmware I advise you to follow the install guide carefully as you could brick your modem.

I will add another few nifty tools that I use.

Windows Repair Tool - www.tweaking.com - If you have possible windows files that are corrupt due to viruses/malware or you want to do the next best thing without having to reinstall windows I highly recommend this tool which is free and repairs all windows file/registry settings. One of the main commands in this tool is actually built into windows so if you want to do a test to see if this is needed just open command prompt and type "sfc /scannow" which will scan all windows files and repair if needed. ((( will not repair registry ))) so i recommend the windows repair tool for the complete repair of windows.. I would just say use system restore but alot of viruses have been created to infect system restore these days. Personally I advise a backup to be made of your pc from when it's in a clean state to be used instead of using system restore due to virus related issues. ((( alot easier to keep your system clean if you use your pc with a non-administrator account )))

Destroy Windows 10 Spying - https://github.com/Nummer/Destroy-Wi...pying/releases - If you use windows 10 this tool will block all the ip's microsoft uses to connect to your pc in which they use your info to build a personal database of everything you search and watch to better target you with advertisements. This tool has other features as well just read about it before using.

Driver Booster - http://www.iobit.com/en/driver-booster.php - I recommend this for updating all drivers except for your video card driver also I highly recommend you find/download your video card driver yourself from your graphics card official website and not to use windows update for video card related drivers. Nvidia has a tool to scan your pc and point you to the exact driver you need.. just because windows update finds a driver and it "works" doesn't mean it's the correct one and it could be holding you back on performance. Driver Booster updates ALOT of drivers for things windows doesn't and has a cool gaming addon as well.
