though my stats made me feel good. The RB stats look SOSO on paper. But really considering I'm normally top of the score board or last man standing on a losing team. I'm quite happy. Unfortunately it doesn't track assists or my stats would look a shit ton better.

and no way for it to track number of people I've saved, which is what I focus on doing. being a good wingman\team mate. Besides staying alive.

There are two schools of thought re: Flight stats. I personally don't give a rip about my FDR or KDR, but am only concerned about doing what it takes for the team to win the match. Currently 60% lifetime and 68% in the last month. If that means throwing 1/2 dozen planes at an airfield to cap for the win in a domination match then so be it. My ratios will suck, but the team gets the win and we all get increased reward points.

But in all seriousness, my #1 goal for each match is to Survive. I don't care if I win or lose, get kills or not. Any match where I am alive at the end is a win in my book.

Your other comment is an excellent example that there are many ways to play the game and many ways to define success. There is no right or best way to play. You play mostly Realistic and define success as surviving, I play mostly arcade so I'm always alive at the end and define success as the team winning, others define success by their KTD ratio, others don't define success at all and just play. The only really important thing is that you enjoy the experience, because it is after all just a game.

Actually I play mostly realistic as well. So I'm with Danes, I qualify a win as surviving, and and have more than once when I was the last plane standing, landed and left the match to guarantee that survival. (mainly when I'm in expensive planes with large repair bills\long repair times like my favorite tempest. Multiday repair time or 25K repair bill means I'd rather just leave the match so I can queue up another in that same plane.)

Which is why my FTD makes me feel good as it quantifies that I don't commit to a fight I'm not sure I can win. Which is the way of an actual pilot. That and my win/loss ratio shows that the matchmaking algorithm is working for balance, Because in a fair world with random teams you should win 50% of the time. Which is where most of our win/loss ratios are, between 50 and 60%.
